Proposed Extension to Car Park
Why Is It Being Proposed?
The Parish Council is proposing to extend the existing car park at Postwick Recreation Field in order to support the increasing use of the Village Hall and Cricket Club.
Over recent years, demand for parking during events and busy periods has grown. The proposed extension aims to improve parking availability, reduce congestion, and support the continued use of these important community facilities.
The proposal:
- Support increasing demand from both the cricket club and village hall use
- 2023 and 2024 saw significant growth – continued in 2025
- Demand on parking on our existing car park (offering c30 spaces) has often been exceeded.
- Research and consultation suggests we need an additional 24 spaces
- The car park surface is basic and has no markings to ensure space is optimised.
- We provided extra temporary capacity in 2025 but a new permanent solution is considered essential for 2026 onwards
- The Parish Council considered a range of options in the autumn of 2025.

Green Space Consideration
The extension would require the use of a small section of green space.
The Parish Council recognises that green space is important to the community. To help offset this, we are exploring the purchase of alternative land to create new or improved green space within the parish.
Environmental considerations, including planting, biodiversity and surface materials, will form part of the final design approach.
