Postwick with Witton Neighbourhood Plan Adopted Following Overwhelming Support
Postwick with Witton Parish Council is delighted to announce the adoption of the Postwick with Witton Neighbourhood Plan, following a successful referendum and formal adoption by Broadland District Council and the Broads Authority.
The referendum on August 7, 2025, saw an overwhelming 92% of voters in favour of the plan, demonstrating strong community backing for the vision set out for the future of the parish. The Plan will now form part of the Development Plan for Broadland District Council and the Broads Authority Executive Area and will be used in the determination of planning applications within the neighbourhood area.
“This is a landmark moment for Postwick with Witton,” said Julie Smith, Chair of Postwick with Witton Parish Council. “The Neighbourhood Plan gives us a real say in shaping the future of our community, ensuring that development meets our needs and protects what we value most.”
The Postwick with Witton Neighbourhood Plan 2025-2038 envisions protecting the rural character of Postwick village and the hamlet of Witton while supporting proportional housing growth and associated community facilities at The Oaks, and appropriate economic activity within the boundaries of the existing Business Parks.
Key development priorities within the Plan include supporting growth at Broadland Business Park and The Oaks. The Plan aims to establish new cycling routes and improve public footpaths to enhance access to the Broads. It also focuses on ensuring biodiversity and wildlife connectivity, protecting green spaces, and ensuring high-quality development.
The adopted Neighbourhood Plan is available to view online at www.southnorfolkandbroadland.gov.uk/neighbourhood-plans. Hard copies are also available at Postwick Village Hall, Brundall Library, and Broadland District Council & South Norfolk Council offices.
